WinObs_2

I thought I would wrap up the year and the decade by looking back over the site for the past year. As I have prepared this post it seems that Windows 7 dominated the site in 2009.

That is actually not surprising for a couple of reasons:

  • One is that as 2009 began Windows 7 was in private and public beta testing. It was everywhere you looked.
  • Two is that 2009, specifically 22 Oct 2009, was the official release date of Windows 7. There was a lot of info around the Internet for it as well. I also got to attend the Windows 7 Launch in New York City so that was a huge highlight of the year as well.

I am also reminded that I have written for the site from many parts of the world due to my travels:

  • El Salvador
  • Okinawa, Japan
  • Bahrain
  • England
  • Italy
  • 34,000 feet up in the air on an airplane
  • and across the United States

I really stepped up my use of Twitter in 2009 as well. I currently sit at just over 17,000 tweets. No Twitterfeed or other automated tweeting software in use here. I write and post each one. I have become a big linker on Twitter and share what I think are some of the best links I find in my RSS feeds.  That is why about midway through the year I stopped posting the Google Alerts and started daily posts that contained all of my tweets with links in them. This has created a history of my Twitter Linking activity that I would not have otherwise. I hope it also allows you to catch up with links you might have missed in real time.

In 2009 I was a guest on the PC/MAC Smackdown a few times and after some prompting from the shows host I started up my own PODCAST and so for the last two months the Observed Tech PODCAST has been online.

All in all 2009 has been a great year from a life and tech standpoint. I look forward to 2010 and the 15th Anniversary of WindowsObserver.com. More than anything I look forward to increasing my interaction with all of you who make this site possible with your visits and sharing.

Stay Safe out There!
