A busy week begins with news about the end of support for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 7 which is in December 2019 and January 2020 respectively. We had a new build in the Windows Insider program and it continues the trend over the last few builds of just tweaking the UI and putting some finishing touches on the next feature update for the OS. We have all kinds of other news related to Microsoft, apps, services, gaming, Office Insiders updates, and HoloLens 2. Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 289 #OTP

This week we kick off with the latest in the Windows Insider Program and I share some thoughts on the tweaks we are seeing and what it might mean for the direction of the 19H1 feature update. We are also another week without any updates about the re-release of the October 2018 Update and the blogosphere this week spent time commenting on the lack of communications from Microsoft on this updates release. Without improved communications from Redmond, regaining users trust is going to be challenge. Of course, we have app update news, a ton of Xbox related announcements after XO18 this week in Europe including several new additions to Xbox Game Pass, plus we talk about Samsung showing off their first Foldables phone and the updates Google is making to Android to support the new form factor. There are lots of other tidbits scattered throughout the show like any other episode so be sure to listen until the very end to catch everything.

This week ended up being a solid Windows Insider week with the release of three builds for testers. We update the news around Surface Go which was released almost two weeks ago. A few more in depth reviews have been published but we are also noticing that some deals are coming available for other Surface hardware. Plus, we learn that sales of Surface Go are doing pretty well. Then we catch you up on the latest for the official Twitter app on Windows 10, Microsoft’s return to the Movies Anywhere library and an update to Microsoft Pay. Of course we have plenty of other tidbits throughout the show including Xbox, OneNote, Skype and the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Be sure to stay tuned throughout the show to catch all the headlines. As always enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 274 #OTP

This week I kick off the show by trying to explain my screaming lobster analogy from last week’s episode about the changes in Windows 10 over the last three years. Hopefully, I helped and did not further muddy up the waters! Then we had a quick rundown of Windows Insider and pre-release news of the past week including no client side fast ring build. That means the likelihood is high that we will see an update this week with a long list of updates since it will have been two weeks since Build 17713 was released to testers. Big ticket item this week was Microsoft’s 4th Quarter FY-18 earnings that were announced on Thursday. Suffice it to say the demise of Microsoft is huge fake news! Of course we have plenty of other news for you so make sure you listen all the way to the end so you can catch everything.
