Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 175 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 175 of Observed Tech. I kick off this show by telling you a little about the Geeks Network which is the new home for this podcast and thanking the TechPodcasts Network for all their support since the early days of this endeavor. There is still plenty of Windows 10 news to discuss and ponder as Microsoft released new builds for both desktop and mobile in the last week. We have also seen new Universal Windows Platform apps that have arrived on Windows 10 and I talk about what that might mean for the app ecosystem on both sides of the platform. Of course still more hardware to talk about as well with the Lumia 950XL’s mysteriously being pulled from the shelves at Microsoft Stores, a Lumia 550 feature video and another one all about Continuum. There is also the subject of another week and another Windows 10 build being leaked. This one is 10568 and it supposedly introduces some interesting elements relating to choosing your defaults in the OS. I then close this episode out by discussing a petition directed at Microsoft to allow users more control and give them more info about updates for their systems and then share my concerns about whether I can move back to Windows 10 Mobile from Android after six months on the platform. There are also other tidbits scattered throughout so until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 174 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 174 of Observed Tech. This show is our big follow up to all of the Microsoft news out of their New York City hardware event last week. We learned more about HoloLens, Microsoft Band 2, Lumia 550, 950 and 950 XL, the Surface Pro 4 and some new accessories. The big surprise of the event was the Surface Book which seemed to have caught the tech world off guard. While I was in NYC I got to attend the big #Windows10Devices Fan Party and was able to get some hands on time with the new hardware so I talk about that as well. Finally, there is a new build of Windows 10 for Insiders, 10565, this week which brings fit and finish as Threshold 2 moves towards release. I also discuss the best feature added in this build which was long overdue. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 173 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 173 of Observed Tech. In this show I talk about the progress of Windows 10 as it enters its third month of overall availability. Included in that discussion is the current state of the one year old Windows Insider program and how many builds have been pushed to mobile and desktop testers. This weekend there was also a leak of Windows 10 Build 10558 and I tell you a few of the things I see in it that shows the continued improvements in the OS towards the Threshold 2 update due next month. Of course, many eyes will be on New York City this week and the big hardware event Microsoft is hosting on Tuesday. I will be there in NYC for the announcements and get some hands on time as well. Follow along on Twitter, me @WinObs and Rod Trent @RodTrent, for our SuperSite for Windows coverage and our instant analysis on the gear that gets announced. Of course, we will have plenty of follow up coverage over at the SuperSite as well. Finally, I spend some time talking Microsoft becoming a form factor trend setter as more manufacturers begin to copy the companies Surface device. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
