Windows 10 RS5 Build 171666 Delivers BUILD Features

This past week Microsoft has been hosting developers from around the world at their annual BUILD developer conference in downtown Seattle. The event had keynotes on Monday and Tuesday then a broad range of sessions on all three days. To cap off the three day event, Windows Insiders received a new build on Wednesday, Build 171666, that introduced some of the features announced during BUILD. We even get to start checking out the Cloud-Powered Clipboard a year after its initial demo at BUILD 2017.

Who moved my cheese? Or in this case, who moved the option to delete previous versions of Windows on Redstone 5 Build 17661? Well it is still in the operating system but it has been moved to a new location.

Windows 10 RS5 Build 17661 Merges Skip Ahead and Fast Rings

I hope everyone had a chance to heed the warning about the closing of the Windows 10 magic window. Yesterday, with the release of Windows 10 RS5 Build 17661, Microsoft merged both the Skip Ahead and Fast rings. That means the same build will now be pushed into those two rings when updated testing builds are released.

The last few weeks have been very busy in the Windows as a Service (WaaS) world. Now that the Windows 10 April 2018 Update is available for download, it is time to move forward with the testing of Redstone 5 (RS5). Over the last few months Windows 10 RS5 has been in limited testing as part of the Windows Insiders Skip Ahead ring.
