Although it has been a while since a true flagship Microsoft Lumia has been released Microsoft continues to bring budget handsets to market and the latest phones to join that group are the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532.

According to Microsoft’s Lumia Conversations blog, where the two new handsets were announced earlier today, this is the first 400 series Lumia phone and the 532 is described as a powerful device with a premium layered design and Glance screen.

These are also the first phones to carry Microsoft’s branding on the hardware since the acquisition of the Nokia Phones division last year.

A quick look at the specs for each handset show their budget roots.

So as you can see from the specs the 532 is just slightly larger, has the better rear main camera, a quad core instead of a dual core processor but in all other areas they are identical. Each of them will come in black, white, green and orange. They both come in single and dual SIM models and will be available in Europe, Asia-Pacific, India, the Middle East and Africa with the Lumia 435 will cost approximately 69 euros and the Lumia 532 will cost 79 euros.

It is great to see new hardware coming Microsoft in an effort to bring quality Windows Phones to the low end of the market but it brings to mind the question that has come up a lot and that is when we will see new handsets, either flagship or budget, here in the US for the Windows Phone platform.

Maybe Windows Phone 10 will be the vehicle to bring those handsets to the US – I guess we have to keep an eye on that for now.
