Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 276 #OTP
Insidering picked up its pace with the release of not one but two fast ring builds for Windows Insiders. We also finally got to try out the Your Phone app that was announced for Windows 10 back at Build 2018. The timing and availability of its release gives us a couple of clues about when Microsoft might be targeting its ultimate release. A big chunk of this week’s show is spent discussing the retail availability of Microsoft Surface Go and the flood of reviews that came out this past Thursday. Sentiments are quite mixed on the devices capabilities but it no doubt carries many of the identifying features that make it a Surface. We of course have other news items including some stuff from Xbox, Apple, Google and one of my favorite subject areas – NASA. So be sure you listen all the way to the end so nothing is missed. As always enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!

Three new builds were made available for testers in the Fast Ring (Build 17723), Slow Ring (Build 17713.1002) and Skip Ahead received its first offering (Build 18204). There were also several new previews made available for Office Server 2019 elements like Skype, Exchange and SharePoint. Next up it is Surface including my own quick visit ith Surface Go at my local Best Buy. Then we talk about Outlook.com coming out of beta including its new Dark Mode, the continued growth of the April 2018 Update on Windows 10 devices, targeted installs from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and the possibility of Devices as a Service (DaaS) from Microsoft in the future. Of course, we have tons of other tidbits scattered throughout the show so make sure you stay tuned in all the way until the end to catch everything.

This week I kick off the show by trying to explain my screaming lobster analogy from last week’s episode about the changes in Windows 10 over the last three years. Hopefully, I helped and did not further muddy up the waters! Then we had a quick rundown of Windows Insider and pre-release news of the past week including no client side fast ring build. That means the likelihood is high that we will see an update this week with a long list of updates since it will have been two weeks since Build 17713 was released to testers. Big ticket item this week was Microsoft’s 4th Quarter FY-18 earnings that were announced on Thursday. Suffice it to say the demise of Microsoft is huge fake news! Of course we have plenty of other news for you so make sure you listen all the way to the end so you can catch everything.

In this week’s show we discuss things like Microsoft’s new Surface Go, Apple’s hardware refresh and the associated price tag and the significant milestone that was reached today in the Windows 10 Redstone 5 development process. On the software and services front Microsoft finally releases a free version of Microsoft Teams which will compete directly with Slack in the collaboration market. In addition, Microsoft announced that their desktop whiteboard app is now generally available. We have all kinds of other news throughout the show so be sure to keep listening right until the end. Thanks for listening.
Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 272 #OTP
In this show I talk about the upcoming three year anniversary of the release of Windows 10 and the journey to where we stand today with the operating system. There have certainly been both successes and hiccups along the way so I will cover the various milestones we have seen. I will also talk about the beginning of the Windows Insider Program, the five feature updates we have seen so far and then I share some ideas I have that could help with the testing of future feature updates. Stability has been a challenge over the last few feature updates and a slight shift in the testing approach might help remedy some of those issues. Suffice it to say that this is a jam packed show so listen all the way to the end.
