Today at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference, being held in Houston this week, it was confirmed that OEM partners will have access to the final Windows 8.1 upgrade bits by late August.

This announcement came from Tami Reller, the Chief Marketing and Financial Officer for Windows, while she was on stage shortly after what she labeled the most extensive Windows 8.1 demo to date.

By making the upgrade available by late August that means new Windows 8 devices that will come out for the holiday season will be able to have the 8.1 version of Windows on them and not require any update once they are purchased.
