Today Microsoft officially launched their newest version of the Office flagship productivity suite of programs to very low fanfare and no official launch event.
The new collection of software comes under several different licensing options including a new subscription based offering for consumers.
Here is the breakdown:
- Office 365 Home Premium – comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access. Can be installed on up to five devices, comes with an additional 20GB of SkyDrive storage, 60 Skype World minutes per month, stream full versions of Office applications to any Internet connected machine running Windows 7 or 8 using Office on Demand and get updates and new versions of the software whenever they are available at no additional cost. Costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year.
- Office Home & Business 2013 – comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook. Can only be installed on one device and new versions must be purchased when they are released. Costs $219.99 per copy/license.
- Office Home & Student 2013 – comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Can only be installed on one device and new versions must be purchased when they are released. Costs $139.99 per copy/license.
- Office Professional 2013 – comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. Can only be installed on one device and new versions must be purchased when they are released. Costs $399.99 per copy/license.
- Office 365 University – comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access. Can be installed on up to two PC’s and on up to two smartphones or tablets for use by a single person on those devices, comes with an additional 20GB of SkyDrive storage, 60 Skype World minutes per month, stream full versions of Office applications to any Internet connected machine running Windows 7 or 8 using Office on Demand and get updates and new versions of the software whenever they are available at no additional cost. Costs $79.99 for a four year subscription.
