The expectation was that we would not see any significant Microsoft related news out of CES 2013. I mean this is the first year they have not had a significant presence at the annual consumer show.

However, it seems a couple of partners there decided today’s press day at CES would be a good time to announce some new Windows Phone handsets that are coming soon.

Samsung said the ATIV Odyssey will be on sale with Verizon in the next few weeks. The ATIV Odyssey will be the first Samsung Windows Phone to be sold in the US.

The other company in Windows Phone news from CES is Sprint who said they will not offer one but two Windows Phone handsets this summer. They did say one was from Samsung and the other one from HTC but that was the extent of the details from them.

Short on details but then again so are a lot of another announcements coming out of CES 2013!
