Well we have arrived on the eve of Microsoft’s Official Launch of Windows 8 which will happen here in New York City tomorrow at New Yorks’ Pier 57.

There are signs around town that something Microsoft-ish is happening as well.

I shot this picture of a billboard as I left the USS INTREPID Sea, Air and Space Museum earlier today:

Actually Microtropolis is something you can attend down at Pier 57 – here are some of the details from the official Windows Blog:

If you are in New York, we’d like to invite you to attend and experience Windows 8, Surface and a range of great OEM devices for yourself. The exhibit will be open at various times to the public from 10/26-11/03 and will host specific curated talks and events. Below is a calendar of events and you can always get more details by tweeting @Microtropolis, checking out the website or following the hashtag #microtropolis.

This location will also be an extra retail location, including launch night Thursday. Read more details about the schedule here.

It also looks like everyone will be able to tune in via the web to watch a live webcast of the Microsoft Windows 8 Launch Keynote tomorrow which is scheduled to start at 11:15 AM EDT.  From what I understand the keynote will be the first part of the launch events and OEM partners are prepared to show off some of their new hardware afterwards.

I will of course be live tweeting the event and then will bring pictures and other commentary as I explore the OEM hardware that will be on display.

I am really looking forward to putting my hands on the Microsoft Surface RT and see what all the fuss is about.

More to follow of course!
