Microsoft’s founder and former CEO Bill Gates created the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in an effort to raise money and awareness for charities supported by the foundation. The foundation has given $28 Billion to charity since 2007, which is 48% of his net-worth.
The Gates Foundation is focused on real issues in particular to third-world counties that are not always addressed by mainstream charities. As example the Gates Foundation has focused on eradicating Malaria, helping third-world countries grow rice, and a crusade to end Polio.
“Don’t just go for safe projects,” he said. “Take on the really tough problems.”…”Our foundation is teaming up with partners around the world to take on some tough problems: extreme poverty and poor health in developing countries, the failures of America’s education system.”
