Windows 7 makes terrific use of troubleshooting wizards and wizard guides to help users troubleshoot, fix problems and run their computer. The Windows 7 Troubleshooting Applet is located in the Control Panel under All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting.
In the Control Panel applet the troubleshooting wizards are set up in 5 categories:
- Programs – allows you to run programs made for earlier versions of Windows
- Hardware and Sound
- Configure Device
- Use a Printer
- Troubleshooting audio recording
- Troubleshoot audio playback
- Network and Internet
- Connect to the Internet
- Access shared files and folders on other computers
- Appearance and Personalization
- Display Aero desktop effects
- System and Security
- Fix problems with Windows Update
- Run maintenance tasks
- Improve power usage
- Check for performance issues
These are just the most used troubleshooters – there are actually a total of 24 troubleshooters to help you maintain the system. You can access them all by clicking on the View all link on the left hand side of the main applet window.
