Observed.Tech PODCAST Episode 207 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 207 of Observed.Tech! This week I start off by telling you about my experience so far with the LG Nexus 5X and how it compares to the BLU R2 HD and the Lumia 950. Next up are details about where we stand with Windows 10 on Current Branch, the latest cumulative update plus the most recent Redstone 2 testing build that has just been released this week. Windows 10 and the reliability of its update process has come under fire in the last couple of weeks because of some very public failures after the Anniversary Update so I discuss those and what I have heard from Microsoft on the matter. After that I share some of the latest tips and tricks myself and others have shared for Windows 10 to help you take advantage of features and deal with any challenges you might encounter during your use of Microsoft’s latest operating system. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode including the latest on Windows 10 hardware from IFA 2016 in Berlin, BLU dropping Windows Phone from their portfolio, the delayed Outlook.com transition and the Grandpad tablet that really isn’t that great a deal in the long run. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening!

Observed.Tech PODCAST Episode 202 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 202 of Observed.Tech! I can confirm there are no Pokémon’s in this show! What is in this show is a summary of Dona Sarkar’s appearance on Windows Weekly from Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto and she talked about some interesting tidbits for Windows Insiders. I also give you a run down of the major announcements that came out of the conference that cover areas like Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Windows 10 and Surface Hardware. Microsoft’s main message to partners was transformation of their businesses to help others make the move to a digital world. Next up is Windows 10 and the progress being made to deliver the Anniversary Update in just a little more than two weeks from now. Insiders have had three builds for PCs and Mobile devices in the last week and there are more to come. Alongside the latest testing builds we also gained access to a new extension from Amazon for Microsoft Edge plus a long awaited firmware update for Lumia 950/950 XL that adds back a very popular feature.. This past week was also Patch Tuesday so we talk about the latest Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Current Branch and some hardware driver updates. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode including Skype for Linux, photo back ups with different services, magnets and 2-in-1 devices, the new Outlook.com and some Xbox news including how to get the Kinect Adapter for your Xbox One S. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening!

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 194 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 194 of Observed Tech. Bots, Bots, Bots. It seems after Microsoft laid out there new intelligent bot strategy at Build 2016 all kinds of bot related announcements are starting to be made by companies such as Facebook, Kik, Slack and Telegram. Now we just need to watch and see if everyone is skating towards where the puck is or where it will be when it comes to bots. Also of note this week are new Windows 10 Mobile features that will come out as part of the Anniversary Update expected this July – not bad for a dead platform – but these announcements were low key at Build 2016 instead of on the keynote stage. Plenty to talk about when it comes to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update especially with the release of Windows 10 Build 14316 to Insiders which is full of new features that are expected this summer with the next major release of Windows 10. There was also a Windows 10 Roadmap published by Microsoft last week that shows some upcoming Windows 10 features that had not even been announced yet. I also shared my experience of using Surface Book for the first week, what it was like re-experiencing HoloLens at Build 2016 and my opportunity to check out the upcoming new inking features one-on-one during Build. Other items that I discuss include NexDock reaching its funding goal, the fact that we always seem to be patching these days, social media news for Twitter and the NFL, Facebook and live video and more warnings about email and tech support scams. Finally, I mention the tremendous feat by SpaceX last Friday to land their Falcon 9 1st Stage on a barge at sea and a great 50% off deal for my listeners for the pro version of CloudBerry Desktop Backup from CloudBerry Labs. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
