Welcome to our catch up episode after I spent a week out in Seattle at Microsoft Build. There were a lot of exciting announcements from Microsoft for developers and while some will be experienced by consumers sooner – others will come later in our favorites apps, products, and services. Of course we catch you up with all the other key tidbits including new Windows Insiders builds along with many apps and services updates.
This show is full of Microsoft and Windows news as you would expect. There is Microsoft’s latest quarterly earnings report which was very good, updates on Microsoft Edge Chromium work, and even a Windows Insider build for Fast Ring testers for the 20H1 feature update. We also learned more about system requirements for the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, discuss the status of Sets, and Surface Hub 2S plus the potential for Surface Buds and a Surface Display. Of course, Xbox Insiders got several new builds and there was that inadvertent announcement/confirmation of the Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update. Don’t forget to listen from start to finish so you catch all the tidbits through the show.
This week there was a lot happening in the Microsoft tech world. First, we had the public release of the Microsoft Edge Developer and Canary builds of the company’s new Chromium-based browser on Monday. A couple of hours later they then opened up the Windows Insiders Release Preview ring with Build 18362 of the May 2019 Update aka 19H1. Then mid-week, they merged the Skip Ahead 20H1 ring back to the Fast Ring and made Build 18875 available for testers. Pretty much exactly as we predicted and discussed during last week’s show.
What an absolutely eye opening and jaw dropping week. I kick the show off talking about my return from Twitter Exile and then we dive into what might be the biggest news in the history of Windows 10 and discuss what it all means for Windows Insiders and everyday users of Microsoft’s latest operating system. Of course, there are plenty of other headlines this week that I will mention and share with you from social media, software, apps and services, plus various items from many other areas of the tech scene. Yes – there is a little space news in the wrap up as well. Please be sure to listen from beginning to end for everything.
