If you are an Xbox 360 owner then you have been very used to the opportunities to try out the next dashboard update on that console. In fact, it is such a popular thing that the initial batch of slots fill very quickly and many others wait for their shot to get in on the preview.
Well if you have an Xbox One it is your turn to get in on the dashboard update madness.
Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, just announced on his blog that the first preview program for an Xbox One update is starting up.
This one is a little bit different than the Xbox 360 ones where you went and registers to participate.
According to Hryb select individuals will be invited:
Beginning today, Xbox is inviting select Xbox Live members to preview new features coming to Xbox One in a March system update and future system updates as they become available, asking them to provide valuable feedback before the updates are implemented worldwide. Selected participants will receive a message over Xbox Live with a code to register. The next system update will begin rolling out next week to those who will preview the new features. Once registered, participants will be able to test the early features included in the update and provide feedback on a private forum and can opt out of future waves.
I am sure there will be a discussion as to who is being invited and why – in fact that has already begun on his post with the announcement.
Whatever the criteria getting an inside and early peek at the future is always great.
Of course remember the idea behind the early view is for feedback so make sure you give them that feedback to help improve things for everyone.
That is your mission should you be invited and choose to accept it.
