Facebook has officially announced the release version of their Messenger For Windows software that has been in a beta test for the last few months.
The benefits of the software is it allows you to get notices about Facebook communications to your account without having a browser window open at all times. This software sits in your system tray and will pop up any alerts as you get info from your family and friends on Facebook.
The software does have a limitation and it only runs on Windows 7. According to their Facebook Messenger for Windows FAQ they are currently working on a version for Windows Vista and there are no plans to support Windows XP.
