This month’s advance notification bulletin has been released in preparation for next week’s Patch Tuesday and according to the MSRC it will include seven bulletins which will take care of eight issues in the following Microsoft software:

  • Windows XP SP3
  • Windows XP x64 with SP2
  • Windows Vista x86 and x64 with SP2
  • Windows 7 x86 and x64 (and with SP1)
  • Windows Server 2003 x86 and x64 with SP2
  • Windows Server 2003 with SP2 for Itanium Systems
  • Windows Server 2008 x86 and x64 with SP2
  • Windows Server 2008 with SP2 for Itanium Systems
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 (and with SP1)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium Systems (and with SP1)

The MSRC team also points out a unique vulnerability classification in this month’s bulletin:

In addition, eagle-eyed readers of the summary page will notice an unusual vulnerability classification, “Security Feature Bypass,” for one of our Important-severity bulletins. SFB-class issues in themselves can’t be leveraged by an attacker; rather, a would-be attacker would use them to facilitate use of another exploit. For those interested in learning more, we expect the SRD blog to publish a detailed analysis of the matter on Tuesday.
