It is almost December which means it will be the new year before we know it. That in turn means looking back at the past year as well as looking ahead to predict what we may see in 2011.
However, before we start that there will be a lot of focus in these last 30 days or so of the year on what was popular in many different venues including search engines.
Well today Bing released their annual summary post of the Top Bing Searches for 2010 and they have provided two categories:
Most popular overall 2010 searches on Bing:
- Kim Kardashian
- Sandra Bullock
- Tiger Woods
- Lady Gaga
- Barack Obama
- Hairstyles
- Kate Gosselin
- Walmart
- Justin Bieber
- Free
Most popular people searched in 2010 on Bing:
- Kim Kardashian
- Sandra Bullock,
- Tiger Woods,
- Lady Gaga
- Barack Obama
- Kate Gosselin
- Justin Bieber
- Jesse James
- Lindsay Lohan
- Jennifer Aniston
- Michael Jackson
I find it interesting that they expanded to an 11th term in the popular people category to keep Michael Jackson’s name there but they do explain that a little bit in their post:
This year’s most searched for topic was Kim Kardashian which received 20% more searches than the second most popular term: Sandra Bullock. 2009’s top searched term, Michael Jackson dropped to the number 11 position for most popular people. The only item repeating their appearance in the top ten was Kate Gosselin (last year’s #8) – although this year she appeared alone – minus Jon. Also, the tough economy is apparent with discount retailer Walmart and the topic “free” appearing in the top 10.
