Finally – a little confirmation – after much speculation across the blogosphere since Friday – about the availability of Microsoft Office 2010 RTM for download.
According to the Microsoft Office Backstage blog – it will be available to MSDN subscribers on Thursday 22 April. This matches what many blogs wrote over the weekend but I was unable to find a Microsoft source until tonight to confirm it myself.
There is no mention of TechNet on his blog so I am not sure about that side. Typically they are available on both.
The Office Backstage blog is a MSDN Blog written by Ben Walters who is based at Microsoft in Australia and is a Office Technical Specialist for them. Pretty good source if you ask me.
He summarizes the entire timeline for the Office 2010 release in his Office 2010 RTM blog entry.
Here is a summary of the dates:
- 22 April – MSDN download available
- 27 April – Available to Volume License Customers with Software Assurance
- 01 May – All Volume License Customers who do not have Software Assurance can purchase
- June 2010 – General availability at retail outlets
I did notice that he does not mention the 12 May date for business customers availability and the launch event in New York City – that is also a date that has been confirmed elsewhere by Microsoft.
So there you go – finally confirmation for the MSDN download availability on 22 April – Get ready to grab it!
