If you have been looking for a bargain before upgrading to Windows Home Server 2011 then this just might be it.  Amazon is currently offering Windows Home Server 2011 , which is based on Windows Server 2008 R2, for just $66.  That is 56% off the listed retail price of $149.99 – a savings of over $84 – plus shipping is free.

From the product description:

  • We designed Windows Home Server 2011 to be easier than ever to install.
  • From a centralized management dashboard to user alerts and warnings, Windows Home Server 2011 helps take the hassle out of managing a network.
  • With Windows Home Server 2011 you can easily protect what?s important because your family?s data is protected and automatically backed up every day.
  • Further updates also in remote access of your files and PCs in Windows Home Server 2011 enable you to connect to your family?s documents, photos, videos and music virtually, wherever you are.

I have written plenty on this new version of Windows Home Server and how I am finding my data just as secure and protected as it was under WHS V1 with the Drive Extender technology.  I am honestly not missing Drive Extender at all, my computers are backed up daily and my server data is either in redundant storage or backed up to an external drive daily.  WHS 2011 is a definite win all around and I have it installed on a PC I bought for that purpose and not special server type hardware.

There is nothing stopping you from getting hooked up with WHS 2011 – especially with this type of a deal to get the OS itself.

Is it time to make the move to a secure backup and data protection system?
