You have heard me talk about the Roku, my favorite streaming device, on many occasions.  They are out at CES 2013 and made a couple of different announcements about their device and service.

  • Roku Adds New Roku Ready Partners for 2013 – Six new Roku Ready partners were announced that include Coby Electronics Corp.; Harman Kardon; Hisense Electric Co. Ltd.; TCL Corp.; Voxx Accessories Corp. and Westinghouse Digital. They join 8 other partners that are already part of the Roku ready group – 3M; Element Electronics; Haier America; Hitachi America, Ltd.; Insignia, a Best Buy brand; OPPO; Sumar Intl., Inc. and TMAX Digital, Inc. Being Roku ready means their TV’s can support the use of Roku’s Streaming Stick to provide streaming options for their customers.
  • Roku Surpasses 700 Channels With New Services From Best Brands in Streaming Entertainment – Roku now offers more than 700 channel options for users of their streaming devices which is more than any other device being offered today.  They also reported that they streamed over 1 billion hours of video and audio in 2012.  Some of the new channels recently added include Blockbuster on Demand; Dailymotion; DISHWorld; Flingo; FOX NOW; PBS; PBS Kids; SyFy and VEVO. In addition to the video channels new music and audio channels have been added including Amazon’s Cloud Player; iHeartRadio and Spotify.
  • TWC TV Launching on Roku – If you are a subscriber of Time Warner cable you will be able to access over 300 live television channels when the service launches this quarter.

All I can say is let’s get Xfinity on there too!
