In a surprise visit at the end of the Day 2 Keynote Address at the Microsoft Build Conference in Anaheim, CA Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, revealed that the developer preview of Windows 8 has been downloaded over 500,000 times since it went live last night around 8PM Eastern Time.

That is just 16 hours worth of downloading time!

If you do not think there is a lot of enthusiasm for Windows 8 and what it will bring to the table then you must not be watching what is happening out there in California.

That is also a lot of telemetry data for Microsoft to use and improve Windows 8 by seeing how the system is being used by end users.
