This week I begin with some news about an Xbox Game Pass giveaway and then dive into all the juicy news including heavy duty Andromeda hardware rumors/leaks, the latest feature to be dropped from RS5, and the fast pace which the April 2018 Update is landing on Windows 10 systems. I also get to share with you about a classic piece of Microsoft hardware that is back on my desktop, improvements around facial recognition, Google almost having a shot at GitHub before Microsoft scooped them up and maybe Microsoft is not bailing on consumers after all. Observed.Tech PODCAST Episode 208 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 208 of Observed.Tech! This show starts off with a discussion about my continued experience with the Nexus 5X and my recent foray into virtual reality with Google Cardboard. It was pretty spectacular to be blunt and the wife thought it was cool as well. Next up is the latest Apple iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 product announcements and mixed reviews on the lack of innovation with the latest iterations of Apple’s flagship device. Several key reviewers are also telling readers that this might be a year to skip the upgrade if you are happy with what you currently use. Then of course we jump into this week’s Windows 10 news including the first cumulative update for the month old Anniversary Update and the latest Redstone 2 build that is starting to reveal some new features that are headed to the third major update for Windows 10. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode including the availability for the first third party peripheral which supports Windows Hello facial recognition, blocking outdated ActiveX and Flash controls in IE and Windows 7, HoloLens being named a breakthrough product and Xbox winning the console sales battle for the second month in a row. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening!

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 195 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 195 of Observed Tech. It is good to be back behind the mike after this six week hiatus and I give you an update on what has been happening over the last month and a half to get everyone up to speed. I then get to jump in and talk about the latest and greatest stuff happening in tech that I have been keeping an eye on. Of course, no other subject kicks off an episode of Observed Tech better then Windows 10 and where we are on the latest builds for testers and those on the current branch release. After that I delve into Windows mobile and where we are on both the OS, app and hardware aspect of things. Big news tied to this is the sale of Microsoft’s feature phone business and there official comments about the future of Windows 10 for mobile and the current line of Lumia phones. There has also been quite a few new/updated Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps released. They bring new functionality to services like OneDrive, the Windows Store and the Feedback Hub which is now available to all Windows 10 users so they can submit feedback to Microsoft on the new OS. Last week there was a big Microsoft Band update that includes a new hiking activity tile and a new desktop version of the Microsoft Health UWP app so we have that covered as well. Finally we share some great resources about Windows as a Service, Microsoft Azure, OneNote 2016 and a convenience roll up for Windows 7/8.1 users that brings hundreds of updates into a consolidated package for those older operating system. Finally I share news about new logos and missions for SuperSite: Windows and IT Pro: Windows and the fact that next week I will be using an iPhone 5c for two weeks of immersion into iOS and the Microsoft ecosystem on the Apple platform. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 182 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 182 of Observed Tech. In this show I talk about Surface, the NFL, inaccurate headlines and a great interview that the folks at GeekWire did last week with Panos Panay about all things hardware related at Microsoft. I also discuss how close we are to seeing Windows 10 Mobile released to the public including older Lumia handsets that can run the operating system. We should also be seeing this update arrive soon for non Lumia devices around the same time. Last week was a big week for Windows 10 Mobile as it appears the latest version of the new Mobile OS made it onto commercial handsets with little delay from ATT. Hopefully, that is the first step in a new trend of OS updates not being delayed by the carrier that we are so used to experiencing. I also share my latest experience with Continuum Mode on the Lumia 950 and what it was like to use nothing but that for four straight hours. Next up was momentum that is starting to build in the direction of Windows 10 as some big name companies are bringing their services to Windows 10 devices using the Universal Windows Platform. Other items that are sprinkled throughout the show include Cortana going full cross platform, IE updates, Microsoft Band v2 update that brings new features and Microsoft’s apologies about OneDrive free storage and their latest hardware devices. Finally I talk a little about NASA, space and HoloLens finally arriving on the International Space Station. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
