Faith, Tech, and Space (Episode 10)

Welcome to Episode 10 of the Faith, Tech, and Space PODCAST. Scheduling recordings are still a challenge but one we will get figured out. I lead off with the latest around my formation and the completion of year number one and I share where we are at in the church calendar. On the tech side we kick off with the latest Windows and Edge Insiders news including the latest releases. The big news on this front is the release of the Windows 10 May 2020 Update and the roll out for new Edge (Stable Channel). Then I talk about BUILD 2020, software installs, channel updates for Microsoft 365, Xbox gaming news, and new Surface hardware reviews. In space we have launches all over the place including the SpaceX Demo 2 mission with two American astronauts onboard. I close the show with some thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement and how I am choosing to learn and be a better ally.

Faith, Tech, and Space (Episode 7)

In this episode we work our way through the three key areas to discuss faith as it not only relates to my formation but also to how the church is addressing the global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. On the tech front, we will catch up with all the latest builds and other news when it comes to both the Windows and Edge Insiders programs. Under miscellaneous tech we talk about some more Xbox Series X news, BUILD going virtual and some work of mine from ITProToday about remote work and certifications. I added a COVID-19 coronavirus section to discuss this global situation – not from a medical perspective – but from a human being experience. Of course, how tech is impacting this will be part of the discussion as well. Finally, wrapping up with the latest in space related news with headlines from SpaceX, NASA, ULA, OneWeb and our orbiting astronauts on ISS. I will also share my spoiler free take on the first season of Star Trek: Picard.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 142 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 142. I begin the show by explaining a change in the weekly production and publication of the OTP because of my new full time job. Bottom line is that you should get each week’s new episode on Monday and occasionally on Tuesday when the Monday is a holiday – like this week for example. Flexibility is the name of the game when it comes to getting the podcast out but it is a good problem to have – a full time job to work around. I also hit on apps and Windows Phone again because it always seems to be an issue and also mention the breaking news of upload file size limitations being removed for Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage. Of course the normal collection of tech news and other items fill up the rest of the show. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 132 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 132 – the Surface Edition. Yesterday was Microsoft’s big Surface announcement in New York City and by big I mean they went big and not small as the rumors were indicating. I lead the show off with some of my impressions of the event and Surface Pro 3 however, there is an interesting twist to the Surface Mini being a no-show so I talk about that during the show as well. I also spend some time talking about building apps in the updated Windows App Studio and an issue that frustrated me for about 24 hours trying to get the apps certified. As I get things going in the Start Up section I discuss Lenovo over taking Apple in PC sales, Emory University and their re-format headache, data caps, rumored iPad split-screen multi-tasking, Windows Phone Dev Center adds 10 new languages, Sony still beating Microsoft in the month to month console skirmishes, Cortana coming to Windows, a TV renaissance and the Google Adsense fraud lawsuit. The usual round up of news items fill the middle of the show as always because I do keep an eye on those areas every day. You will find tidbits and opinions relating to Microsoft, Windows, Windows Phone, Office, Security, Cloud, Internet Explorer, Services, Hardware, Apps, Xbox and Social Media in that part of the show. During Shut Down I dive into some other interesting items you should check out including Google pulling another public feature, securing your WordPress based website, Windows XP Enterprise market share finally below 10%, coding as a game, the Florida Star Trek mansion is for sale, Titanfall companion app available on top 3 mobile platforms, the Internet of your things, latest app counts in Windows and Windows Phone store, Michael Jackson’s hologram and Microsoft’s retreat from announcing Surface Mini. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
