This week there was a lot happening in the Microsoft tech world. First, we had the public release of the Microsoft Edge Developer and Canary builds of the company’s new Chromium-based browser on Monday. A couple of hours later they then opened up the Windows Insiders Release Preview ring with Build 18362 of the May 2019 Update aka 19H1. Then mid-week, they merged the Skip Ahead 20H1 ring back to the Fast Ring and made Build 18875 available for testers. Pretty much exactly as we predicted and discussed during last week’s show.

It is Super Bowl Sunday here in the U.S. and I have a Super edition of Observed Tech for you because there was a lot of news this past week across a broad range of subjects. Windows Insiders received a new Fast Ring build for Windows 10 (19H1) and with the opening of the Skip Ahead ring testers got to opt into the prerelease branch to get the first development build of Windows 10 (19H2). I explain how things will work moving forward with a Fast and Skip Ahead Ring now receiving builds. Of course we also have information about financial results for the latest quarter from Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon and all continue to make progress in their own unique approaches. Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 287 #OTP

We start off by talking about the latest build in the Windows 10 19H1 development branch and the stagnant status of the re-release process for the October 2018 Update. Currently that feature update is still being tested by Slow and Release Preview Ring Insiders. Another issue, this time about copying and pasting files from a compressed archive, now has to be fixed and likely tested as well. This was earnings week and Microsoft had a big one setting records for revenue along with big year over year gains in most areas across the company. This performance even lifted Microsoft up into position as the second most valuable company in the United States. Of course, we have app news, developer updates, security related items, and all kinds of other tidbits so be sure to listen all the way until the end of the show to catch everything.
