Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 195 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 195 of Observed Tech. It is good to be back behind the mike after this six week hiatus and I give you an update on what has been happening over the last month and a half to get everyone up to speed. I then get to jump in and talk about the latest and greatest stuff happening in tech that I have been keeping an eye on. Of course, no other subject kicks off an episode of Observed Tech better then Windows 10 and where we are on the latest builds for testers and those on the current branch release. After that I delve into Windows mobile and where we are on both the OS, app and hardware aspect of things. Big news tied to this is the sale of Microsoft’s feature phone business and there official comments about the future of Windows 10 for mobile and the current line of Lumia phones. There has also been quite a few new/updated Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps released. They bring new functionality to services like OneDrive, the Windows Store and the Feedback Hub which is now available to all Windows 10 users so they can submit feedback to Microsoft on the new OS. Last week there was a big Microsoft Band update that includes a new hiking activity tile and a new desktop version of the Microsoft Health UWP app so we have that covered as well. Finally we share some great resources about Windows as a Service, Microsoft Azure, OneNote 2016 and a convenience roll up for Windows 7/8.1 users that brings hundreds of updates into a consolidated package for those older operating system. Finally I share news about new logos and missions for SuperSite: Windows and IT Pro: Windows and the fact that next week I will be using an iPhone 5c for two weeks of immersion into iOS and the Microsoft ecosystem on the Apple platform. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 186 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 186 of Observed Tech. In this show I talk about Windows Phone upgrade advisor apps, a sneak peek at what might be a new Microsoft Authenticator app that is going through internal testing at Microsoft and the fact that BUILD 2016 sold out in just one minute. After the long three day weekend here in the US we are also seeing the Xbox One Preview program release its first update for the console alongside of further updates to the Xbox Beta app. These updates bring back some very popular features that were temporarily loss when the console got its Windows 10 upgrade last fall. After some testing I learned that it was actually possible to have functioning and synching favorites on Microsoft Edge so I share some of the insight from that experience that will hopefully help many of you get that working as well. I then spend some time talking about the improvements in the update process when it comes to Windows 7, 8.1 and Windows 10 and how Cumulative Updates for Windows 10 has cut down on the volume of updates needed to get an OS up to speed. I also mention the free EA Access for a week for your Xbox One and the one year of Office 365 Personal that is available for Lumia 950 and 950 XL owners through the Lumia Offers app. Of course there are plenty of other items spread throughout the show so please enjoy everything and thanks for listening.
