Rolling with a weekly schedule we kick off about my incoming PC build and the parts I am using for this new setup, closing out my first year of formation with some new information on upcoming classes and purchasing my first vestments. For Windows and Edge Insiders we catch up on the latest builds, updates, and enhancements coming to the web and OS platforms for testing. I touch on the tit-for-tat between Microsoft and Apple about iOS App Store policies that are preventing Project xCloud from being carried for iOS devices, the latest on TikTok acquisition discussions, a Windows division reorg under Panos Panay, and the latest in open source and security. Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 280 #OTP

It is official! The Windows 10 Redstone 5 feature update, the sixth feature update for the operating system, will be called the October 2018 Update. This is right in track with the new naming scheme they began tis past Spring with the April 2018 Update for Redstone 4. We had a good week with build releases for Redstone 5 Fast Ring, The Windows 10 RS5 SDK and Windows Server 2018 Insider Preview however, no Skip Ahead releases for Windows 10 19H1 – the seventh feature update that is expected in the March/April 2019 timeframe. We have hardware news from IFA 2018 in Europe along with several app updates, the confirmation of Xbox All Access and a big change to home based Office 365 subscriptions. After 27 builds Microsoft will make the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, yes that is the official name, available for the general public beginning tomorrow the 30th of April. Initial availability will be through various download methods. Media Creation Tool (MCT), Update Assistant, and channels like MSDN & Visual Studio for subscribers of those services.
