Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 309 #OTP

This week there was a lot happening in the Microsoft tech world. First, we had the public release of the Microsoft Edge Developer and Canary builds of the company’s new Chromium-based browser on Monday. A couple of hours later they then opened up the Windows Insiders Release Preview ring with Build 18362 of the May 2019 Update aka 19H1. Then mid-week, they merged the Skip Ahead 20H1 ring back to the Fast Ring and made Build 18875 available for testers. Pretty much exactly as we predicted and discussed during last week’s show.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 298 #OTP

It was a great time to be a Windows Insider this past week as there were client, server, and development releases for testers. The Windows 10 (19H1) Build 18323 release also marked a significant milestone in the seventh feature updates development cycle and I break that all down for you to start the show off. We then talk about the future of the Windows Insiders Program, including what this upcoming feature update is likely to be called, updates for the retail release of Windows 10, and a rundown of some of the key improvements in the 19H1 update that is expected in April 2019. Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 284 #OTP

We were supposed to be kicking this show off with all the details around the launch of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update along with the news from the Microsoft hardware/software event held in New York City this past week. We will still talk about those events however, it will be tempered with the fact that this sixth feature update’s roll out has been halted by Microsoft. We will discuss the reasons behind that abrupt change and other aspects of the roll out. Still, despite that breaking news from late last week about this update, the announcements made at the New York City event were significant. What we heard and saw about new hardware and software from Microsoft were important elements of the companies strategy moving forward and answers a few questions about the future.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 276 #OTP

Insidering picked up its pace with the release of not one but two fast ring builds for Windows Insiders. We also finally got to try out the Your Phone app that was announced for Windows 10 back at Build 2018. The timing and availability of its release gives us a couple of clues about when Microsoft might be targeting its ultimate release. A big chunk of this week’s show is spent discussing the retail availability of Microsoft Surface Go and the flood of reviews that came out this past Thursday. Sentiments are quite mixed on the devices capabilities but it no doubt carries many of the identifying features that make it a Surface. We of course have other news items including some stuff from Xbox, Apple, Google and one of my favorite subject areas – NASA. So be sure you listen all the way to the end so nothing is missed. As always enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 252 #OTP

Welcome to the 252nd episode of Observed Tech. This is our Cyber Monday episode and our first in a couple of weeks after I took some vacation time over the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday but it is good to be back. I use this episode as a chance to catch up on the development process of Windows 10 Redstone 4, the next big feature update that Microsoft is working on, and discuss the last few builds that have been released to Windows Insiders. I also share with you my thoughts on how many more builds we might see before the end of 2017 as Microsoft approached their unofficial holiday break when many software engineers and program managers will be off for a couple of weeks. We then discuss Windows 10 Mobile hardware opportunities for the remaining lifecycle of the Windows 10 Mobile operating system, a new browser from Firefox, and bots that will help you faster than a live person. Of course, there are other news headlines in the show so be sure to listen all the way until the end so you do not miss any. As always enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!
