Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 280 #OTP

It is official! The Windows 10 Redstone 5 feature update, the sixth feature update for the operating system, will be called the October 2018 Update. This is right in track with the new naming scheme they began tis past Spring with the April 2018 Update for Redstone 4. We had a good week with build releases for Redstone 5 Fast Ring, The Windows 10 RS5 SDK and Windows Server 2018 Insider Preview however, no Skip Ahead releases for Windows 10 19H1 – the seventh feature update that is expected in the March/April 2019 timeframe. We have hardware news from IFA 2018 in Europe along with several app updates, the confirmation of Xbox All Access and a big change to home based Office 365 subscriptions. Of course, there are all kinds of tidbits sprinkled throughout the show so be sure you listen all the way until the end. As always enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!

Observed.Tech PODCAST Episode 225 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 225 of Observed.Tech. Of course this show has some more Windows 10 goodness as the Creators Update has now been officially released along with a bevy of information from Microsoft on the upgrade. I have info about the overall update and some specifics about Microsoft Edge’s continued maturation. However, we start the show off talking about some recent release of several exploits that were released by a hacking group. The good news upfront is that after reports that Windows was very vulnerable, it turns out most currently supported systems are patched already against these issues or are not susceptible to them. We then talk about some new features that have recently come to Windows 10 over on Xbox One and also the discovery of a modern version of a very handy system tool for Windows. We also have a huge amount of news about the future of Windows 10 Mobile and what devices will be officially supported for the Creators Update on mobile, which will be released on the 25th of April, and the Windows Insider Program. That list of supported hardware only has 13 devices listed and that is causing a lot of consternation for Windows 10 Mobile users. I also have tidbits about Steve Ballmer and his reflective perception of Microsoft’s mobile moves, commercials triggering your digital assistants, ad blockers and the way some companies are approaching them, and Apple’s drop on the Best & Worsts Laptop Brands of 2017. Enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 142 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 142. I begin the show by explaining a change in the weekly production and publication of the OTP because of my new full time job. Bottom line is that you should get each week’s new episode on Monday and occasionally on Tuesday when the Monday is a holiday – like this week for example. Flexibility is the name of the game when it comes to getting the podcast out but it is a good problem to have – a full time job to work around. I also hit on apps and Windows Phone again because it always seems to be an issue and also mention the breaking news of upload file size limitations being removed for Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage. Of course the normal collection of tech news and other items fill up the rest of the show. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
