Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 267 #OTP

In this weeks show I share my recent experience at switching wireless carriers for the first time after 15 years with ATT as I moved to T-Mobile for a deal that was just too good to pass up. Microsoft hit a couple of significant milestones this week as their stock closed above $100 per share for the first time ever. Their increasing stock value has allowed the company to become the third most valuable company in the world. We also get to talk about the latest builds released in the Windows Insider program and a new milsetone for the Windows 10 user base. Of course we also have developer, Xbox, and hardware related news to discuss and wrap up with our list of miscellaneous tidbits from across the Internet. Be sure to listen all the way to the end so you get all the goodies! As always enjoy the show and thanks again for listening!

Observed.Tech PODCAST Episode 208 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 208 of Observed.Tech! This show starts off with a discussion about my continued experience with the Nexus 5X and my recent foray into virtual reality with Google Cardboard. It was pretty spectacular to be blunt and the wife thought it was cool as well. Next up is the latest Apple iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 product announcements and mixed reviews on the lack of innovation with the latest iterations of Apple’s flagship device. Several key reviewers are also telling readers that this might be a year to skip the upgrade if you are happy with what you currently use. Then of course we jump into this week’s Windows 10 news including the first cumulative update for the month old Anniversary Update and the latest Redstone 2 build that is starting to reveal some new features that are headed to the third major update for Windows 10. As always, you can expect plenty of other tidbits throughout the episode including the availability for the first third party peripheral which supports Windows Hello facial recognition, blocking outdated ActiveX and Flash controls in IE and Windows 7, HoloLens being named a breakthrough product and Xbox winning the console sales battle for the second month in a row. Enjoy the show and thanks for listening!

Welcome to Episode 184 of Observed Tech – the final show of 2015! In this last show of the year, I start out talking about sharing hotel rooms with strangers, Amazon Prime adding lots of new customers over the holidays, Star Wars: The Force Awakens reaching$1 billion in box office sales and a price hike plus delivery delay for the Surface Hub. One of the best items of news in the Microsoft world last week was the appearance of Microsoft Chief Marketing Officer Chris Caposella on the Windows Weekly podcast and his discussion along several fronts including mobile hardware such as Lumia 650 and Surface Phone, Windows 10 upgrades, cultural changes at the company, the hit and miss of the Xbox One Elite Controller plus the status of Microsoft vs Amazon on the cloud front. Also in the line up is the arrival of more apps which support the Universal Windows Platform, kind of free Windows 10 product keys, deadline for Microsoft contract workers, misinterpreted Windows 10 patches, why government agencies should upgrade to Windows 10 and firmware updates for Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Of course last week also saw the release of 13 Beatles albums to streaming services including Groove Music on Windows 10, Bing search engine growth, taking out Man in the Middle ad injection and browser hijacking, new updates for Windows App Studio and deploying Windows 10 at Microsoft. There are plenty of other items sprinkled throughout the show so until next time enjoy and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 170 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 170 of Observed Tech. On the eve of Microsoft’s 2015 Worldwide Partner Conference I wanted to get a show recorded to catch up on the big ticket items from the last couple of weeks. Over that time frame there has been four desktop builds of Windows 10 released (10158, 10159, 10162 and 10166) along with a new Windows 10 Mobile build (10166). Of course, the big news item was the Windows Phone related cuts and layoffs that Microsoft announced this past week and that is impacting nearly 8,000 employees who will soon be out of a job. I definitely wish them all good luck on their new opportunities because this is impacting people – the hardware and other concerns come second to that. Along with those items there is also news about Office 2016, Windows 10 RTM, Windows Hello facial recognition, Groove music and a new universal Remote Desktop app for Windows 10. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
