Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 312 #OTP

This week we have our normal collection of updates for Windows Insiders with the latest builds and progress across a couple of development branches for Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge (Chromium). However, I begin with an explanation of the final state of my link curation process to avoid Twitter’s aggressive algorithms plus I get on my soapbox about headlines and misdirection with one privacy related story I read this week. After that it is our normal weekly run down of updates around apps, services, security, hardware, social media, and gaming. At the end of it all I mention a couple of space items that you should be aware of as the next five years are going to be crazy as NASA heads back to the moon! Make sure you listen from start to finish to catch all the headlines.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 188 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 188 of Observed Tech. In this show I start off talking about more Universal Windows Platform apps, Windows 10 Mobile and its status, continued progress on Windows 10 Redstone builds and the recent Microsoft Band 2 update. I then jump into tablet sales numbers for 2015, what the former Microsoft CEO has to say about the companies direction, the basics of Mainstream vs Extended support from Microsoft and the lack of Surface Pro 3 devices on store shelves. I then wrap up talking about the senior wearables market, a reboot of Circuit City, Amazon’s shipping costs and eBay’s failure to completely fix a vulnerability on their website that can target customers. Of course there are plenty of other items sprinkled throughout the show so please enjoy everything and thanks for listening.

Observed Tech PODCAST Episode 133 #OTP

Welcome to Episode 133 – another information dense episode as our friend and fellow MVP Joost van Schaik describes the podcast. Some really good gouge in the last few days concerning Surface Pro 3 after the Surface Team did a Reddit IAmA yesterday and more in depth info and reviews are hitting tech sites as well. Unfortunately, data breaches continue to dominate the headlines with eBay at the top of the list. Also, a registry hack to get Windows XP updates unofficially goes public and gets the reaction you should expect from Microsoft. I am genuinely concerned about the number of people who blatantly want to stay on a 13 year old operating system and the professionals who are recommending it. The show Starts Up with an update on my Rocket Launches app for Windows Phone, a possible Windows Phone Store clean up in progress, the Camelopardalids Meteor Shower, a registry hack for updates on Windows XP, Redbox pulling kiosks, Sailor convicted of hacking on an aircraft carrier, Adobe and security, recycling your old electronics, Microsoft shuffling technical blogs, Windows 8.1 with Bing and a possible Surface branded Miracast dongle. In the central part of the show you will find the typical news we keep an eye on each week with items relating to Microsoft, Windows, Windows Phone, Office, Security, Cloud, Hardware, Apps, Xbox and Social Media. In addition to those I also include a special section on the recently announced Surface Pro 3 and more about the un-announced Surface Mini. Bringing the show to a close in the Shut Down segment I discuss an offer of training and employment for women from Code Fellows, Infobesity, Migrating from Windows XP, iPad Mini, Windows and Windows Phone app stats, NASA’s Global Selfie, pictures of old tech and an $85,000 hoverbike. Until next time enjoy the show and thanks for listening.
