Microsoft has released an update to their News app on both Android and iOS in response to feedback from users.

The app, which is already highly customizable by allowing you to select your news subjects and sources, has expanded the display options when browsing your news timeline.

Standard

This is considered the intended view of the news timeline with larger graphics for each listed article.

Compact

Similar to the Standard view but the graphics are smaller to allow more stories to be visible at one time in the news timeline.

Text-only

Removes all of the images alongside the stories in the news timeline so even more articles can be seen at a glance of the main feed.

Once the update downloads to your device, you will be prompted to select your default view and it can be changed later by going into the apps settings.
