In June of 2014 I wrote about the possibility that Windows Live Writer (WLW) might go open source and return to its glory days as the finest offline blogging tool ever created.
Well today that journey has reached its end with the official announcement of Open Live Writer (OLW).
OLW is an open source fork of the WLW code and now has a new home at http://openlivewriter.org/
I wrote more about this over at the SuperSite for Windows today but I just had to try OLW out officially for the first time.
When you download and install OLW the experience feels just like WLW and most everything is in its proper place.
One area that will be getting some much needed attention will be plugins so if you want to give some input on what might be made available be sure to participate in this survey.
