During the opening keynote of Nokia World in Abu Dhabi a partnership between Nokia and WhatsApp was announced alongside of the new Nokia Asha phones.
The WhatsApp CEO, Jan Koum, talked about the WhatsApp platform and its cross platform functionality.
As he got ready to leave the stage he said before he made the 24 hour trip to Abu Dhabi for Nokia World he looked at some of the services stats and shared a specific stat about sign ups and Nokia devices.
He said that everyday 250,000 users are signed up from the range of Nokia devices for the WhatsApp service. Pretty impressive growth from one single line of devices.
It was announced at Nokia World that WhatsApp will be coming to the Nokia Asha line of phones, including the new 500, 502 and 503 (3G) beginning next month.
