There is still some Microsoft related news coming out of Las Vegas where CES 2013 is in full swing, we find a Microsoft Surface RT Firmware update in today’s Patch Tuesday updates and the SkyDrive team tells us about SkyDrive.com enhancements that are going live.

According to Mary Jo Foley at the ZDNet Blog All About Microsoft the word from Tammi Reller, the Chief Financial and Marketing Officer for Windows, today is that Microsoft has now sold 60 million licenses for Windows 8 so far.  The count at the end of November was 40 million and Tammi Reller described the sales as roughly in line with those of Windows 7.

In the Patch Tuesday collection of updates today there was a surprise Surface RT Firmware update included and it is great to see Surface users reaction on Twitter when one becomes available.  Unfortunately, the enthusiasm dies off when it does not bring a substantial experience change to the fledgling tablet. Info on what is in the update are here at Mary Jo’s blog.

The final update comes courtesy of the Inside SkyDrive blog and Omar Shahine the Group Program Manager of SkyDrive.com.  As well as under the hood improvements that upgrade performance and reliability this update brings better access to sharing permissions, improved selection and drag and drop support for touch based devices.
