The Windows Upgrade Offer program has opened up the registration site for anyone who can take advantage of the deal they are offering purchasers of Windows 7 PC’s between 02 June 2012 and 31 January 2013.

The deal is that anyone who purchased an eligible Windows 7 PC can register to get an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro that will only cost them $14.99.  That price is of course for the United States but the offer applies in 140 countries and the price will be based upon factors such as exchange rate, local taxes, duties, fees and local market conditions.

If you have purchased an eligible Windows 7 PC you can register at the offer website at http://windowsupgradeoffer.com/.

According to the FAQ you will need the following information from your Windows 7 PC purchase:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone Number
  • PC make / model
  • Purchase date
  • Retailer / PC Manufacturer

I took a quick peek at the registration form for the offer and it states that you are only entitled to one upgrade per PC purchased however, you can get a maximum limit of five upgrades per customer. That means if you purchase up to five PC’s you can get this deal for each one.

You must register for the offer no later than 28 February 2013.

By the way, this is not the $39.99 upgrade offer that Microsoft has also announced for anyone who has Windows XP or above installed on their computer.  That offer becomes available at Windows 8 General Availability on 26 October 2012.  You can read more about that specific deal on the Blogging Windows site – Upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99.

With those kind of prices to upgrade to Windows 8 what would stop you from doing it?
