With Amazon releasing their instant video app for the Xbox 360 today you may have learned that you need an Xbox Live Gold membership to be able to access the content on that app.
Well the Microsoft Xbox team have thought of you all and are hosting a free Xbox Live Gold weekend just prior to E3 to give you access to that and many other media apps on the console.

We’re also unlocking our Xbox LIVE Gold subscription service in various regions from Friday, June 1 through Sunday, June 3 – no Xbox LIVE Gold membership required for this time. Through this promotion, anyone In the U.S., Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Chile with an Xbox will be able to enjoy multi-player gaming experiences featured on the Xbox LIVE service.
Additionally, in the U.S. only, the below customized entertainment apps will be unlocked3:
- Amazon Instant Video
- IGN
- Manga Entertainment
- MUZU.TV
It is nice that they will offer access to the other apps as well during this free weekend.
