Last October Microsoft bought Skype for $8.5 billion. Today Skype is still not yet on Windows phones or the Xbox 360. However that is about to change according to Rick Osterloh, Skype’s vice president of product, said in the company’s CES video that the online calling service is working on apps for not only Windows Phone, but also for the Xbox 360 and the in-development for Windows 8.
This would be quite an addition to Windows phone. In addition having Skype on the Xbox 360 would overnight propel the console as a premier video conferencing service in the living room. The Xbox already does have video conferencing, but only from an Xbox to another Xbox or MSN messenger. Skype works across many platforms including PCs, Macs, a number of TVs and Blu-Ray players, Facebook and via smartphone apps found on BlackBerrys, Androids, iPhones and iPads.
