WordPress has released version 3.3.1 to address a security issue and took advantage of the update to make some maintenance updates as well.
According to the release announcement:
WordPress 3.3.1 is now available. This maintenance release fixes 15 issues with WordPress 3.3, as well as a fix for a cross-site scripting vulnerability that affected version 3.3. Thanks to Joshua H., Hoang T., Stefan Zimmerman, Chris K. and the Go Daddy security team for responsibly disclosing the bug to our security team.
Your WordPress admin panel should already be showing this update available for immediate installation.
By the way – just for tracking purposes – when we posted about the release of WordPress version 3.3 on 12 December 2011 it had been downloaded almost 53,000 times. At the time of this post WordPress 3.3 has been downloaded over 3,037,000 times!
That is an average of 138,000 times and 524GB of data transfer per day since its release.
