This morning Microsoft announced the release of mobile apps for Windows Phone and iOS mobile operating systems that gives users the capability to fully interact with their SkyDrive cloud storage accounts.
Mike Torres, Group Program Manager, SkyDrive Devices and Roaming authored the post on the Windows Live Blog which provides all the details, screenshots and two demo videos of the apps on Windows Phone and an iPhone.
The quick gouge on these new apps:
- Browse your entire SkyDrive – See all files, folders, documents and photos to help facilitate sharing and task management.
- Share any SkyDrive folder or file with one or more people – Using the same “Get a link” mechanism as SkyDrive.com, you can give view-only or view-and-edit permission to recipients.
- Manage your SkyDrive – Create news folders and delete existing files and folders, right from your phone.
The Windows Phone 7 app has not shown up yet in the US Windows Phone Marketplace but there is a live link to the app in the iTunes Store.
That is now three iOS apps in one week released by Microsoft – Xbox Live, OneNote and now SkyDrive. Update: The Windows Phone SkyDrive App is now live at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
Interesting – very interesting!
