When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was close to release the expectations were that it would shatter sales very quickly and it did not disappoint.  According to Redmond Pie there were 6.5 million copies sold in the first 24 hours after its release just in the US and UK.

The incredible sales figures of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 make it not only the fastest selling game in history, but also the fastest selling entertainment product of all time – with publishers Activision stating that it surpassed global first-day theatrical box office numbers for Star Wars and Lord of the Rings – inarguably two of the biggest film franchises of all time.

As Ian wrote last week there were plenty of opportunities to get the game at midnight at its launch with Walmart hosting 2700 launch parties at stores in all 50 states here in the US as well as most other gaming outlets offering up similar access to the game.

Although I consider myself a gamer first person shooters have never been my strength.  When I made the move a few years ago from PC based gaming to the Xbox 360 console I had a tough time mastering the controller in these types of games.  I was very well skilled, as many PC gamers are, at using the keyboard and mouse combinations to control my character in this type of game.  Since control is a challenge I typically stick with sports, driving and similar types of games.

However, after reading so much about the franchise and the popularity of this game I decided to venture out and give it a try.  So after picking up a copy of the game at a local GameStop I brought it home and fired up the Single Player Campaign.  Less than 24 hours later I was done with the entire collection of single player missions and pretty pleased with myself.

As a non FPS player with controllers I found the controls for COD: MW3 to be very easy to handle and not overwhelming.  Granted the aiming assist option in the setup menu helped me out along the way but I found the game fun and it has a terrific story line connecting each mission together – very much like the Ace Combat series of games – which I also enjoy.

Now, I have not ventured much into multi-player which is a huge draw of the COD series and I poked around in the Special Ops section as well but am satisfied that this game is accessible to casual gamers as well as the hard core folks and that was a nice surprise for me.

So now that I am done with the game I have a couple of choices for what to do with it.  One option is to trade it on Goozex which is the game trading service I use or to give it away here on the site and as you can see from the title of this post that is what I have decided to do.
