My friend Luigi Violin, the mastermind behind the wp7applist website, has released a Windows Phone 7 app to access information about the Windows Phone 7 apps listed at his site.

If your unfamiliar with Luigi’s site it tracks all the Marketplace submissions for apps headed towards the Windows Phone 7 platform and provides a lot of statistics about the Marketplace and the apps themselves including ranking etc.  In fact when I link to a Windows Phone 7 app on this website I always link to Luigi’s site.

Luigi calls his app WP7 app discovery and you can see more details about it at his site.  Here is his description of the app:

This app lets you track changes like price drops and app updates, and provide rankings for every app available in the USA Marketplace for Windows Phone 7.

Search the Marketplace, discover new apps and download them right away.

The optional Live Tile feature will show the current app count, as well as new releases and updates in the last day.

The app approaches the various app listings by highlighting it through several means:

  • Spotlight – these are apps that are being featured on the main page at wp7applist.com
  • Discovery – this page of the app allows you to search by these categories
    • All recent changes
    • Just released
    • App updates
    • Deals and price drops
    • Apps gone free
  • Most popular – self explanatory and based on data directly from the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Marketplace
  • Search

The Live Tile is nice because it gives you a quick glance at the current stats such as the total number of apps in the Marketplace, new releases and updated apps in the last 24 hours.  The tile must be pinned on your homescreen and enabled for this to work.

So head over to wp7applist.com and check out this app.  It is a must have for your Windows Phone 7 in my opinion.
