Well the last press event that Microsoft planned and held ended up being the announcement concerning the release of the Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate.
Now Microsoft has officially announced another press event and party, this one on 14 March 2011 in Austin, Texas during the South By South West Festival.
Ryan Gavin, the Senior Director for Internet Explorer Business and Marketing, posted to the Windows Team Blog late last week about this new event:
On Monday, March 14th at SXSW, we’ll be celebrating the developers and designers who are making that beautiful web a reality. If you’re coming to SXSW, join us for free drinks and live music. It’s a party you won’t want to miss.
The night will kick off with a press event just before the party as well.
It is expected that the press event will involve the announcement that Internet Explorer 9 has either reached RTM stage or is being RTM’d that day and made available for download.
This version of Internet Explorer has been very popular during its development process. The IE9 Beta was downloaded over 25 million times and the recently released IE9 Release Candidate has been downloaded over 2 million times since it came out a couple of weeks ago.
I suspect, that much like Windows 7 has become the fastest growing Windows OS in Microsoft’s history, Internet Explorer 9 is going to be adopted and used faster than any previous edition of the companies web browser.
What do you think of IE9 so far?
