As I was sitting watching television today I noticed that just about every commercial indicates that a brand is on Twitter and Facebook.  The logos for those two social media sites are now part of our lexicon.  Brands have learned to leverage social media to help them connect with customers and provide value in many cases to their product.

I can remember sitting and watching television in 1996 and thinking it was quite unique that companies were starting to provide website URL’s with their commercials.  At the time I was in a Navy school and did not have Internet in my room.  I wrote down every URL I could and then looked them up when I returned home.

Times have changed haven’t they?
