Peter Moore of EA Sports has revealed details about the upcoming version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters on his blog It’s In The Game.
As you can guess by the title Tiger Woods PGA Tour is finally going to officially include the Augusta National Golf Course in the game. The course has been available in the past through third party course developers and enthusiasts but based on reading Peter Moore’s comments this version is going to be the best.
Three main highlights he makes in his blog entry give some great insight into the new version of the game:
- For more than a decade, the Masters has been the most requested feature for this franchise. Pairing the most prestigious golf tournament in the world with the top golf video game is a great win for fans. Of course, we’ll also have 15 other courses for fans to choose from and a host of other new innovations that are going to make this the best golf game we’ve ever produced.
- We’re excited to unveil a new state-of-the art laser scanning technology that our dev team has been using to ensure the most authentic and true-to-life digital representation of the Masters Tournament and Augusta National Golf Club in this year’s game. Working on-site, hand-in-hand with Augusta National, our development team laser scanned every hole featured in the game. It’s very cool stuff.
- No detail, no matter how big or small, was overlooked. We have a new commentary team featuring the iconic voices of Jim Nantz and David Feherty, we incorporated the caddie’s white jumpsuits that are synonymous with the Master’s Tournament and recreated every tree, each of the course’s famous azalea shrubs and the ripples and movements of the greens. If it’s on the course or in the Masters Tournament, I can ensure you that “it’s in the game.”
According to the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 website – http://www.ea.com/tiger-woods – the game is scheduled for release on 29 March 2011. Just less than 3 months to go!
I did notice a small entry towards the bottom of the page that indicates the game will be compatible with the Sony PlayStation Move Controller.
