You can diagnose and fix Windows security problems automatically by utilizing this troubleshooter from the Microsoft Support website.
If your having problems with any of the following security related issues then this troubleshooter is for you:
- Checks Windows security features and enables them if needed
- Phishing or Smartscreen filters
- User Account Control (UAC)
- Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
- Windows Firewall
The use of this troubleshooter is very straight forward and can be explained in just a few screen shots.
First browse to the troubleshooter page at the Microsoft Support Center and click the Run now button.
You will be prompted to download a 500KB file and then allow it to run including the normal UAC prompt since it requires admin access. Click the accept button on this first dialog box to get the the troubleshooter started.
After a very quick installation process the troubleshooter will be ready to run.
Click on the Detect problems and let me select the fixes to apply to start the system security scan.

This is the result dialog to show no issues were found by the troubleshooter scan. It does offer some other areas that you can use to continue your research. At the bottom left of this dialog is a shortcut to the report from the scan that you can click on to get more details on the results of the scan.
