I thought this was a great merging of new school with old school.

On Friday the officials at The Open Championship, which is being played at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland, suspended play due to winds being in excess of 40 miles per hour.  The wind was moving golf balls on greens and causing them to oscillate on the fairways.

Well if you follow golf and know of the Old Course it is on a point of land that is historically windy and brutal when it comes to the elements it presents to golfers.

However, that is not the reason for my post here.

When play was suspended Friday, one of the manual scoreboards displayed the message pictured above.

The use of the term LOL is classic in that it is typically used in emails and text messages to mean Laugh Out Loud.  Basically meaning what else do you expect from the Old Course.

Thus the merging of new with old in a unique way.
