November 2011 Patch Tuesday Advance Notification Released

It is the end of the week prior to Microsoft’s monthly security related Patch Tuesday, which is always the second Tuesday of the month, and the November 2011 advance notification has been published at the Microsoft Security TechCenter.

Advance Notice for October 2011 Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has released their advance notification for the security updates we will see next Tuesday, 11 October 2011.

There are eight bulletins being released with two labeled critical and six important that will address a total of 23 vulnerabilities.  They say the bulletins and related downloads can be expected at approximately 10 . . .

Windows System Update Readiness Tool

Ever hear of this tool before?  It looks like a very handy utility to check on the status of your system.  According to the Microsoft Support Knowledge Base Article, KB947821, you should never need to download the tool.  Apparently your system would be able to indicate that it is experiencing a problem . . .

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Release Candidate Documentation

Yesterday Microsoft posted the first release candidate for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 which is available for anyone to download who has Genuine Windows on their system.
