Last month Microsoft released the official Microsoft Office for iPad Apps and they quickly climbed to the top of the Apple App store download listings.

A couple of weeks later Microsoft revealed that the Microsoft Office for iPad apps had been downloaded over 12 million times.

Yesterday, during their 3rd Quarter Financial Results conference call, they said that Office 365 had gained 1 million subscribers in the previous quarter (Jan-Mar 2014).

iPad users, in order to create and edit Office documents on their tablets, need an Office 365 subscription to activate that feature in the Microsoft Office for iPad apps.

It is probably not a coincidence that Office 365 saw such great growth during this past quarter as I am sure many Microsoft Office for iPad users subscribed to gain the abilities of editing and creation.
