Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, aka Larry Hryb, is letting you and those 750,000 new Black Friday Xbox 360 owners know about a great chance to try out the gold subscription access perks on your  consoles.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the latest entertainment experiences on Xbox, this weekend is a great chance to give it a try. From Thursday, Nov. 29 through Sunday, Dec. 2, we’re unlocking Xbox LIVE Gold in United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Mexico.

All Xbox owners in these regions, regardless of their current subscription, will have access to online multiplayer gaming, (like Halo 4 Spartan Op)  Internet Explorer, Video Kinect and our entire catalog of entertainment apps, during that time period.

These free weekends are great ways to experience the bounty you can get by subscribing to Xbox Live’s Gold access package.  Although it retails for $59.99 for 12 months with good deal shopping skills you can knock that down to somewhere between $30 and $40 a year.

I have been able to keep my annual cost in that range just by watching out for sales and other offers on sites like Amazon and Newegg.

Update: Major Nelson just updated his original post and they have added several countries. The free weekend will be available in these locations – Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.
